Creatine supplements may help fibromyalgia patients

Diet supplements may helps fibromyalgia

Creatine is an organic acid that helps to supply energy to all cells in the body, primarily muscle. In the April 1 issue of Arthritis & Care Research, researchers at the University of Sao Paulo published a promising report that opens a new therapeutic approach to alleviate patients with fibromyalgia.

In this double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial, researchers gave 23 patients with fibromyalgia daily doses of either creatine supplements or placebo tablets for 16 weeks.

They found that those fibromyalgia patients that took this diet supplement significantly improved upper and lower-body muscle function. They concluded that creatine may be a useful diatery intervention to improve muscle function in fibromyalgia patients.
